Ottawa, Canada

Ottawa is Canada’s seat of government and a small city so it is not one of the country’s major tourist destinations and there isn’t much to do, but you can see some interesting sites over a weekend in the city if you find yourself in Ottawa or are planning a visit. The majority of sites and places to see are concentrated downtown and near the adjacent Byward Market area. Ottawa, like the rest of Canada, was a bit more affordable than visiting major cities in the United States due to the favorable exchange rate. Ottawa offers walking tours, but these are seasonal, and none were available during the late fall and winter timeframe. Even though Ottawa is not in Quebec Province, it is near, so most public signs will be in both French and English and French are widely spoken, though English is the first language in Ottawa unlike places such as Montreal.
